The update we were working on at that time was the bug fix release that did get released a little while ago. We do have the next update in development now which includes a better use of the screen space when displaying records with the ability to group fields together and enables long text fields to be displayed without the need to tap through to the next screen. Aim to complete end of September.

This address is referring to your iPhone. When you tap the sync button in the app and the StoreIt Link screen is displayed, a little web server is started on your phone at the address displayed on this page. Also be aware that this address and port number can change depending on various conditions so you should check the ip address displayed on the screen each time to make sure it is the same. Hope this helps.

Are you using Safari on a Mac? Some users have noticed this with Safari on Mac and have needed to exit the app and restart before the file would load.

One other feature on Safari is, the browser can appear to have completed a download of a backup (it will no longer be waiting for data) but StoreIt will still be posting data to it. You can see this because the StoreIt screen will continue to show the activity bar until it has finished it's work. If you click on safari before the actvity bar has disappeared then you end up with a partial download.

We have loaded several thousand records in testing and do know of other users with similar numbers. Performance can degrade at over 1000 records and we'd include the nested records in this count. It does depend on a number of factors though (e.g. number of fields).

Nested records currently get fully re-saved each time there is an update that is why you can experience a slowdown as the number of nested records grows. This is something we would like to improve upon.

I have noticed that as my database grows, the app loads noticeably slower. Launching a category with a lot of data loads slowly and the save takes longer as well. Is their a practical limit on the number of records I can store and have the software still perform adequately? I probably have 150 records, each witha nested category with 3-10 items in them. That doesn't seem huge to me, but it is definitely slowing the program down significantly.

A couple of problems that other users have had are:

- on some versions of internet explorer you need to ensure you enter the full URL displayed on the StoreIt Link screen including the http:// at the start. Also make sure that you type in the port number at the end (after the colon ':') as well.

- you may need to restart your wireless router to get your first connection (or restarting your iPhone/iPod may also do the trick).

- note that the ip address and port number may change when you restart the device, the application or router. It attempts to stay remain the same but you need to be careful it matches each time you want to connect.

Hope one of these helps.

I am afraid we don't have any video tutorials. I think what you may be after is to use a Calculated Field using a Conditional Value. When in the Edit Field screen tap on Field Values entry and select Calculated Value and then select Conditional Value. This allows you to add a test and a value to populate the field with if the test is true.

There is an example of using this approach on an image field midway through the FAQ http://www.database4iphone.com/faq/using-calculated-fields/. The same can be done for text fields.

A minor release (2.4.1) has just been submitted to Apple for review focusing on the stability of the app. As such it includes fixes to a number of reported bugs that cause the app to crash. This includes an intermittant failure when loading backups from a Mac, problems when adding a larger number of nested items to a category and some issues with filtering. Hopefully this will be available within the next week depending on the Apple review period.

Yes things are a bit more spaced out than they could be. Displaying the fields in a grouped arrangement with the label and value in the same row (as you see in the Contacts app) would allow the most fields to be visible on a screen at once. We do hope to make some gradual improvements to layout over the next few updates. Thanks.

Good timing. We have just begun work on the next update and would hope for it to be available before the end of next month. This will be a 2.x release. Sorry it's been so long. We had deliberately stepped off the our previous more rapid release strategy, but it has been longer than originally planned. Future updates should not be so spaced out. We do appreciate receiving all the input we get from users. Thanks.

Can you shrink some of the space currently being used in data entry screens?
They way things work now, there is space for four data fields/labels per screen, with a lot of "padding" within and between fields.
It seems that closing some of this padding would allow for another field to be displayed which would improve layout effectiveness.
Thx!
MG

It's been over 5 months since the last update was released, with Many suggestions and issues posted.
When do you plan on releasing the next update, and will it be a 2.x or 3.0 release?
Thx!

I would also like to see landscape supported. Along the same lines it would be good to see the labels in the record view mode in line with the data. At the only 4 fields can be seen at one time. A change in layout would allow 8 - 10 fields on the screen. An alternative would be to have font size options.
